New York hosts 3rd Indo-American Arts Council film festival

The following directors won the awards for 'Outstanding Film Creativity'. Awards were presented by author Salman Rushdie on Sunday,  November 9, 2003

A five-day-long film festival in New York, organised by the Indo-American Arts Council in New York showcased the work of filmmakers of Indian origin earlier this month. 18 feature and documentary films were screened – some were shot entirely in the US, while a few, like Pamela Rooks’ ‘Dance like a man’ were made in India. Pakistani director Babar Ahmed transcended borders by casting India-born Bobby Routh in his film ‘Genius’. Nisha Ganatra’s ‘Cosmopolitan’ – with Roshan Seth and Madhur Jaffrey in the lead-was a vivid and a hilarious rendition of a first generation Indian in the US.
