Relics of ancient temple bared by tsunami
 

Three rocky structures with carvings of animals were uncovered by the Dec. 26 tsunami as it hit the coastal town of Mahabalipuram in south-east India. The six-foot rocky structures that have emerged include "an elaborately carved head of an elephant and a horse in flight. Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar
- the man behind the name

 

NASA's premier X-ray observatory was named the Chandra X-ray Observatory in honour of the late Indian-American Nobel laureate, Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar. Known to the world as Chandra (which means "moon" or "luminous" in Sanskrit), he was widely regarded as one of the foremost astrophysicists of the twentieth century. Chandra X-ray Observatory, which was launched and deployed by Space Shuttle Columbia on July 23, 1999, is the most sophisticated X-ray observatory built to date.      Read on...

Nestling within the old Lawrence Gardens, the Lahore Gymkhana Cricket Club (LGCC) sits inside the Bagh-e-Jinnah, originally called Lawrence Gardens. The LGCC remains sacrosanct and of a special pedigree. Fazal Mahmood recalls that LGCC "was the most prestigious in the province. Every cricketer dreamt of playing there".
